Emil Zimmermann (painter)
Emil Zimmermann (born July 31, 1858 in Cassel or after Boetticher in Marburg (Lahn) ; † December 9, 1898 in Kassel ) was a romantic German painter . He was a member of the Willingshausen painters' colony .
Life
Emil Zimmermann attended the Laurentianum grammar school in Arnsberg and then the Kassel grammar school . He was taught drawing together with the German Kaiser Wilhelm II during his high school years in Kassel. After completing his high school years, he first attended the Kassel Art College , and then switched to the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1880 . In 1884 he came to Willingshausen for the first time at the suggestion of Düsseldorf painters . Emil Zimmermann exhibited in Munich , Dresden and Berlin since 1888 . Longer annual stays in Willingshausen followed. After all, in the last years of his life, he always spent the winter months in Willingshausen.

Emil Zimmermann painted landscapes that were enlivened with people in Schwalm costume during harvest and plowing. He also added herds of sheep and herds of cows to his landscapes. His pictures are all characterized by a light, silvery hue of their own .
