Emina Čabaravdić-Kamber (* 1947 in Kakanj , Yugoslavia , today Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a freelance writer and painter .

Life

Čabaravdić-Kamber was the only one of eleven siblings to leave her home in 1968 at the age of 20 and has lived in Hamburg ever since . She is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) in Hamburg, a member of the German PEN , a member of the PEN in exile, of the "Authors 'Association Hamburg" and of the International Journalists' Association Hamburg "Foreign and Foreign Press" in Hamburg. In 1988 Kamber founded the international literature club "La Bohemina". Since 1992 she has worked as VHS - lecturer for Exile Literature & Art in Hamburg, Lübeck , Münster and Bosnia.

Multilingual publications appeared in books, anthologies and on the CD "Emina" with SEVDAH - Bosnian love songs and poetry recitatives. In 1989 Kamber received an International Poetry Prize “Alberto Karpino”, Naples / Italy. Several awards followed.

Emina Cabaravdic-Kamber heads EU youth projects in the fields of literature, art and theater at the Edmund Siemers Foundation. Your work with European young people encompasses the topics of international understanding, integration and languages.

In 1996 she was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her literary work on the subject of peace and the end of the war in her home country Bosnia . In 2008, at the book fair in Sarajevo , she received an award for her life's work from the publishing house “Das Bosnische Wort”.

Čabaravdić-Kamber has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 2005 .
