Emma Fernon (born March 12, 1987 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player . The defender has been under contract with Celtic Glasgow in the Scottish Women's Premier League since early 2019 . She played internationally for Scotland between 2009 and 2015.

Career

Emma Fernon began her career at Cumbernauld Cosmos from the planned city of Cumbernauld . There she played until the U16, before the Glasgow City LFC made an offer for the defensive player, whereupon she changed. In the 2004/05 season Fernon was able to win the first title in club history with the team, which is based in the Glasgow district of Bridgeton. In the following seasons, the team held its own at the top of the table. Fernon and the German Katharina Lindner played a major role in this. In 2015, she announced the end of her career after 185 games and 52 goals.

She returned to the football field in early 2018.

National team

Fernon made his debut for the Scottish national team on February 24, 2010 during the Cyprus Cup in Cyprus against the Netherlands , when she came on for Kirsty McBride in the 71st minute of the game . She scored her first goal in a game against Northern Ireland at Strathclyde Homes Stadium in Dumbarton , which was won 2-0. Her teammate from Glasgow, Jane Ross , had previously met.
