Katharina Lindner (born September 3, 1979 in Munich ; † February 9, 2019 ) was a German soccer player who was last in the squad of the Scottish first division club Glasgow City LFC until 2012 .
Career
Lindner, who was born in Munich and grew up in Kleinostheim , switched to SG Praunheim at the age of 16, from which the 1. FFC Frankfurt was founded in 1998. In the 1998/99 season she won the championship and DFB Cup double with Frankfurt . Equipped with a football scholarship from the University of Hartford , she moved to the United States and played for three and a half years for the local college team of the Hartford Hawks, for which she scored 26 goals in 87 games. She completed her studies with a bachelor's degree in media studies and psychology . As a result, she completed a master's degree in media studies in Hartford for two years and played briefly with the Western Mass Lady Pioneers . Lindner then decided to do a PhD in film and media studies at the University of Glasgow , which also led her to the squad of the Glasgow City LFC . With Glasgow she won five Scottish championships in a row and three times the Scottish Cup. After the 2011 season, Lindner announced the end of her active football career, having made 172 appearances for Glasgow to date, scoring 124 goals in all competitions. In the 2012 season, however, she was used by Glasgow on match days five and six as a substitute, while she scored in an 11-0 victory over Inverness City .
Since 2011 she has taught in the field of Communications, Media and Culture at the University of Stirling .
