Emmanuel Boleslaus Ledvina
Emmanuel Boleslaus Ledvina (born October 28, 1868 in Evansville , Indiana , † December 15, 1952 ) was an American clergyman and bishop of Corpus Christi .
Life
Mariano Simon Garriga received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Vincennes on March 18, 1893 .
Pope Benedict XV appointed him on April 30, 1921 Bishop of Corpus Christi . He received his episcopal ordination on June 14th of the same year by the Bishop of Indianapolis , Joseph Chartrand ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Alexandria , Cornelius Van de Ven , and the Bishop of Dallas , Joseph Patrick Lynch .
During his tenure he continued to build the diocese. He brought priests from the Midwest for pastoral care in his diocese and had a large number of churches and chapels built. In the summer of 1940 he consecrated the newly built cathedral. At his invitation, the Benedictines from Subiaco set up a branch in Corpus Christi.
