location
The Emmet lies in the northeast part of the Rothaargebirge at the interface of the mountain regions Upland and Sauerland . Its summit rises around 2 km southwest of Usseln , 1.3 km south-south-east of its Wakenfeld location and around 600 m north of the border with North Rhine-Westphalia . To the west past the mountain runs roughly in a south-north direction of the upstream area of the Aarbach near the source , to the east past in the same direction of flow one of the nearby Diemel .
Natural allocation
The Emmet belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Winterberger Hochland (333.5) to the natural area Langenberg (333.58). The landscape falls to the north and east into the Inner Upland (333.90) natural area , which is part of the Upland subunit (333.9).
Tourism and history
In winter there are cross-country ski trails and a ski lift around the Emmet.
On January 18, 2007, Hurricane Kyrill overturned all of the trees, mostly spruce, on their once densely wooded top; most of the wood was processed. Since then, a good view from the summit has been possible.
