Emmy Funk

Emma Anna Maria Funk (born Swoboda, also Swoboda-Funk, Funk-Swoboda; born September 19, 1915 in Vienna ; † April 10, 1974 ibid.) Was an Austrian opera singer with a soprano voice .

Life

At the University of Vienna she studied musicology from 1934 with Robert Lach and Alfred Orel , which she completed with a doctorate in 1939 or 1943. In the summer semester of 1936 she attended opera school with Wilhelm Klitsch at the Vienna Music Academy . From 1937 she made regular appearances on Radio Vienna . At the same time she took private singing lessons with Minna Singer-Burian and sang at the Volksoper Vienna from 1939 and 1945–1964 at the Vienna State Opera . She also made vinyl recordings. After her stage farewell in 1964, she worked as a teacher in Vienna.

She was married to Peter Funk from April 29, 1938, from October 29, 1951 to a Schurmann or Schürmann, and January 19, 1961 to the businessman Heinrich Biber. A marriage with the bass-baritone Alois Pernerstorfer mentioned by Czeike is denied by the Austrian Music Lexicon.
