Encarnação was a Portuguese community ( freguesia ) in the 1st Bairro of the capital Lisbon . Since 2013 it has formed the municipality of Misericórdia together with São Paulo , Santa Catarina and Mercês . The 0.19 km² community had 2136 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
The Bairro Alto was halfway into this council. The neighboring communities, beginning in the north, were São José , Santa Justa , Sacramento , Mártires , São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Mercês.
