The Enchilada Franchise GmbH is a German company in the food service based in Gräfelfing (Bayern). The group runs 168 catering establishments in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates (as of March 2017). The company operates the restaurants partly on its own, partly as franchise concepts or as partnership models (joint ventures).

The group manages restaurants in the leisure and travel catering segments . In the area of ​​leisure gastronomy , the group operates the concepts Enchilada (Mexican gastronomy), Besitos (Spanish tapas bar and restaurant), Aposto (Mediterranean day and evening gastronomy ), Lehner's Wirtshaus (Bavarian inn gastronomy ), The Big Easy (evening gastronomy in a southern ambience) , Burgerheart (prime burger concept) and since 2016 with Wilma Wunder (all-day catering). In the transport gastronomy sector, Enchilada has been represented with the “French fries friends” concept and since mid-2014 with the Rosita's Chili concept. The fast-casual chain Dean & David is also part of the Enchilada group of companies. Enchilada is also the operator of a number of individual projects in Munich , Nuremberg , Augsburg , Saarbrücken , Würzburg , Stuttgart , Münster and Ludwigsburg .

history

The first Enchilada restaurant was founded in 1990 by Hermann Weiffenbach in Munich, and Enchilada Franchise GmbH was founded in 1996. In 1996, another partner, Matthias Machauer, joined the company. In 2001 the group operated 20 restaurants. In 2008 the Enchilada Group ran 47 restaurants, including 25 enchilada bars. According to the ranking of the specialist magazine Food Service, the Enchilada Group was one of the top 25 largest catering companies in Germany in 2013. In April 2014, the group's 100th restaurant opened in Stuttgart, and in mid-2014 the group ran 106 restaurants. In 2016 the group once again grew strongly and now has more than 160 companies; around 40 new openings are planned for 2017. In 2007, the Enchilada Group and David Baumgartner opened the first restaurant in the fast-casual chain Dean & David, which specializes in fresh salads.

The fast-casual restaurant chain Dean & David opened in 2007. In mid-2017, there were 85 branches in Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Qatar , and sales in the double-digit million range were achieved.

Salads, wraps and sandwiches, Thai curries or smoothies and freshly squeezed juices are prepared there in an open kitchen. Preservatives and flavor enhancers are not used. The interior is kept in white and limed oak.

In 2007, today's managing director David Baumgartner started a salad bar on Schellingstrasse in Munich .

Awards

In 2010, the group was awarded the Hamburg Foodservice Prize by the German specialist publisher. In 2011, 2012 and 2013 the Enchilada Group took first place in the food service ranking in German leisure gastronomy.
