Engelbert Bancher
Engelbert Bancher (born October 20, 1912 in Zuckmantel , Freiwaldau district; † November 19, 1986 ) was an Austrian natural scientist ( plant physiologist ) who, as a full professor at the Technical University in Vienna (today: Technical University of Vienna), was the "Institute for Botany, technical microscopy and organic raw materials ”from 1958 to 1986.
Career
Together with his assistant Josef Hölzl , he published the book Construction and Properties of Organic Natural Substances. Introduction to organic raw materials , which has become a standard work in raw material and commodity science . Bancher was from 1969 to 1972 Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Technical University of Vienna.
He held the function of General Secretary of the ZOOBOT ( Zoological-Botanical Society ) from 1963 to 1974.
Chair
After Josef Weese (1888–1962), Bancher led the Institute of Botany at the Technical University in Vienna (today: Technical University of Vienna) and taught technical microscopy and organic raw materials .
