Location of Engenthal in Bavaria

Engenthal is a district of the Elfershausen market in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .

Geographical location

Engenthal is located southeast of Elfershausen and is surrounded by vineyards.

North of Engenthal runs the B 287 , which leads in a north-easterly direction to Euerdorf and Bad Kissingen and in a south-westerly direction to Hammelburg and forms the Hammelburg 97 junction with the A 7 shortly before Langendorf . The A 7 runs west of Engenthal in a north-south direction.

history

The first documentary mention of the place comes from a sales deed from 1234, when Mechtildis von Henneberg, the widow of Heinrich v. Trimberg, Engenthal and other goods to the Hochstift Würzburg sold. The inhabitants of the place were originally in the service of the lords of the Trimburg castle .

The only livelihood for the population of Engenthal, whose growth was limited due to a lack of suitable cultivation areas, was still growing wine.

Between 1722 and 1727, the St. Valentin Church in Engenthal was built under Michel Ströhlein . The high altar of the church was built in 1740.

On April 1, 1971, Engenthal became a district of Elfershausen as part of the municipal reform .
