The Roman Catholic Church of St. Valentine is in Engenthal , a district of in Lower Franconia nearby market Elfershausen and the hl. Consecrated to Valentin von Terni .

The church belongs to the architectural monuments of Elfershausen and is registered under the number D-6-72-121-40 in the Bavarian monument list .

history

In earlier times, Engenthal was a branch of the parish Euerdorf , later the parish Elfershausen. The St. Valentin Church was built between 1722 and 1727 under the Kissinger Michel Ströhlein.

description

The nave has two window axes. The eastern choir is closed in a semicircle. The windows of the nave and choir are segmental arches . The above the roof of the choir rises roof skylights .

Furnishing

The rococo- style high altar from 1740 shows a figure of St. Valentin of Terni and on the sides St. George and St. Michael . The side altars with figures of Our Lady and St. Sebastian emerged towards the end of the 17th century.

According to the inscriptions on the bells, they were built in 1521 (Marien's bell; probably from an earlier church building) and 1723 (Valentine's bell). The strikes are guesses based on tables.
