Enzo Cosimi (born February 13, 1958 in Rome ) is an Italian choreographer and dancer . Marinella Guatterini described him in Il Sole 24 Ore 2004 as "the most radical and choreographic choreographer of Italian contemporary dance".

Cosimi studied classical and modern dance in Rome with Alfimova Gibson , then for six months at Maurice Béjart's École Mudra in Brussels and then from 1981 to 1982 in New York . Since then he has lived in Rome. He often appears in his own choreographies. Tours took place in Europe (Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain etc.), USA, South America, Australia and India.

He worked with the writer and painter Luigi Veronesi , the video artist Fabrizio Plessi , the fashion designer Miuccia Prada , the artist Aldo Tilocca , the Italian composer Pierluigi Castellano and the Berlin musician Robert Lippok .. The choreographies were created with the Italian writer Aldo Busi " Seminario sulla gioventù "and" La stanza di Aldo ". Richie Hawtin composed the title “9:20” for Cosimi's choreography at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , while the star dancer Roberto Bolle took on the solo dance.

Cosimi's works are shaped by the birth as a twin , the experience of the city of Rome and the examination of the subject of the hero . In the production La stanza del Principe - IIVariazione su Il Lago dei Cini (2010) the homeless problem is in the foreground. The life of the homeless , which Cosimi researched in lengthy interviews and video documentations, forms the dramaturgical focus of this choreography.

Quote

“When I talk about heroes, I am talking about power and empty rituals . My hero characters can come from a classical mythology such as Penthesilea as well as from today's star world such as Leonardo DiCaprio . For many years my study of the heroic movement of expression happened to be linked to the study of muscle. Today the hero has changed, he has lost the center and there are only fragments left. It is no longer linked to the muscle, but to the nerve. "
