List of grape varieties |
Erbaluce is an autochthonous white wine from Piedmont , Italy . After centuries of producing thin, acidic white wines for domestic use, the grape variety has recently experienced a renaissance due to targeted clone selections in the vineyards.
Fresh, dry white wines , dessert wines made from dried, partially rosinated grapes (the so-called Passito; see also Caluso Passito ) and fortified dessert wines (the Passito liquoroso) are made from Erbaluce . Lately, good quality sparkling wines have also been produced, as the grape variety has a strong acid structure .
Erbaluce is in the DOC - wines Canavese , Colline Novaresi , Coste della Sesia and Erbaluce di Caluso processed, the latter being the area around Caluso demonstrates the potential of the grape variety best.
