Erhard Amadeus Dier

Erhard Amadeus Dier , called Amadeus-Dier , (born February 8, 1893 in Vienna , † September 25, 1969 in Klosterneuburg , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist.

Life

Erhard Amadeus Dier studied with Camillo Sitte and Josef Jungwirth at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and traveled to Switzerland, Italy and Spain. He began his artistic activity as an illustrator. He created designs for Austrian banknotes, tapestries, wallpaper and church windows. Among other things, he painted portraits and animal pictures and worked as a graphic artist and porcelain painter.

During the time of National Socialism Dier was active in the Austrian resistance movement.

He was buried in the Weidlinger Friedhof in Klosterneuburg.
