Erhard Grüttner

Erhard Grüttner (born February 26, 1938 in Wohlau ) is a German graphic designer , poster artist and illustrator . From 1995 to 2007 he was professor of graphic design at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences .

Life

After school and apprenticeship as a handwriting lithographer , Erhard Grüttner studied free graphics and painting from 1957 to 1962 with Bernhard Heisig at the Leipzig College of Graphics and Book Art . He then worked for several years as a graphic designer at Progress Film-Verleih in Berlin . During this time he designed, among other things, the posters for the DEFA classics The Subject and the film Spur der Steine , the performance of which was later banned. He has been working as a freelancer since 1969.

His areas of work include poster design, illustration, book design and television design. In addition, several of his works were implemented as art in architecture . Since the VI. German art exhibition, works by him were on view at the GDR art exhibition in Dresden. Since 1966, his works have been continuously represented at international poster biennials, for example in Moscow , Tokyo , Ottawa and Paris .

From 1995 to 2007 he held a professorship for graphic design at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau. Since then he has been working freelance again.

Erhard Grüttner lives and works together with his wife Roswitha Grüttner in Blankenfelde-Mahlow .
