Life

Klonk spent his youth in Marburg . After he was seriously wounded in World War I , he studied with Otto Ubbelohde in Goßfelden . He then attended the Academy in Munich from 1921 and began singing lessons. From 1922 he also received acting lessons. Engagements in Munich and Leipzig followed .

In 1926 Klonk returned to painting and moved away from Munich. After a visit to the Elisabeth Church in Marburg , Erhardt Klonk began to deal with stained glass . Stays in France and Quedlinburg followed . In 1935 he was appointed a lecturer at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf .

As a result of the Second World War , Klonk could no longer carry out his work at the art academy. He devoted himself to acting again and also worked as a set designer . Probably in 1952 Erhardt Klonk founded his own glass painting workshop near Marburg. His son Erhardt Jakobus Klonk later joined the company and continued the workshop in Oberrosphe from 1970 to 2009.
