Eric Koch
Eric Alfred Koch (born August 31, 1919 in Frankfurt am Main ; † April 28, 2018 in Toronto) was a Canadian radio journalist , writer and social scientist . He lived in Toronto .
Life
Eric Koch grew up in an assimilated Jewish family in Frankfurt am Main.
After Hitler came to power , the family emigrated to Great Britain in 1935 , where Koch began to study law at the University of Cambridge . In 1940 he was interned as an enemy alien and deported to Canada. There, after being recognized as a victim of the Nazi regime, Koch continued his studies at the University of Toronto . He worked for 35 years as a journalist and presenter at CBC , first for Radio Canada International and finally as regional director in Montreal.
He then taught at York University .
