Eric Simonson
Eric Simonson (born June 27, 1960 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American director and screenwriter. For the film A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin , he won an Oscar in 2006 for Best Documentary Short Film .
Life
Simonson grew up on a farm in the small town of Eagle , Waukesha County , Wisconsin . He graduated from Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Arts and then moved briefly to Madison , where he was employed at the Ark Repertory Theater . In 1983 he moved to Chicago , where he co-founded the Lifeline Theater and initially worked irregularly, from 1993 as a permanent member of the Steppenwolf Theater Company ensemble . In 1993 he was nominated for a Tony Award for his musical The Song of Jacob Zulu . In the 1990s he was in smaller roles as an actor in various television series, such as B. Seinfeld to see.
In 2000, Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright , which Simonson wrote with Jeffrey Hatcher , premiered at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater . For the film A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin , in which he directed and was a producer, he won in 2006 together with Corinne Marrinan an Oscar for Best Short Documentary.
