Erica McDermott

Erica McDermott (born April 26, 1973 in Cambridge , Massachusetts ) is an American actress . She gained fame mainly through her supporting roles in the films The Fighter and Black Mass .

life and career

Erica McDermott grew up in Somerville as the daughter of a nurse. Her parents moved to Quincy with her when she started sixth grade . There she graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and then followed in her mother's footsteps. She graduated from Salem State University with a degree in Nursing in 1995, her professional focus subsequently being caring for children with brain injuries. She married investment advisor Bob McDermott and has had his last name ever since. They lived together in Nashville for four yearsbefore moving to Connecticut in 2001 with a job offer for her husband. There they became parents of two daughters, whom she gave birth 13 months apart. She stayed at home as a housewife and mother for the first few years before looking for a new job. When a friend called about the performance of a play, she rediscovered her passion for acting, which she had already awakened during her school days.

In 2008 she was on stage for the play MOMologues and then received acting lessons at Plymouth Rock Studios. Soon after, she took part in the open casting for the film The Fighter . For the role of Cindy 'Tar' Eklund , the film sister of the main actor Mark Wahlberg , she prevailed against a large number of competitors. She then appeared in a guest role in the series Body of Proof . She also appeared in a supporting role in the 2013 movie American Hustle . In 2015 she starred as Mary Bulger , the film wife of Benedict Cumberbatch , in Black Mass and also played a small role in Joy - Everything Except Ordinary . In 2016 she appeared as Sue in Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea .

McDermott can do without his own agent. Today she lives in Massachusetts again with her family.
