Erich Gindler
Erich Gindler (born March 2, 1903 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † September 14, 1995 in Lübeck ) was a German painter.
Life
Gindler attended the State Art and Trade School in Königsberg from 1918 to 1920, then the Königsberg Art Academy , where he was a student of Richard Pfeiffer and in 1923/24 Arthur Degner's master class . From 1925 he worked as a freelance artist in his hometown. His main area of work was figure painting and portraiture - as well as landscape painting and still life .
During the Second World War he was a soldier from 1939 to 1945. His studio, and with it a large part of his work, were destroyed in the air raids on Königsberg in the summer of 1944 .
He himself was seriously wounded and taken prisoner of war in April 1945 , from which he was released in 1946 to Murnau am Staffelsee . There he was resident and worked, among other things, as a community college lecturer. His subjects were the mountains of Murnau as well as memories of the old homeland Königsberg, the Samland, the Curonian Spit and the Masuria. In the mid-1950s he got industrial contracts in the Ruhr area. He will be on the homepage of the Lutheran parish of Berchtesgaden and the murals created by the end of 1950 in the Bishop Reported district Strub standing Insula Church attributed, though he would thus also soon after his release from captivity and even before the establishment of the church in The refugee camp that existed there at the time was held up, so that this may be due to the coincidental name of another artist.
When he received a large order from Orenstein & Koppel in 1963 , he moved to Lübeck. Gindler's artistic estate is kept in the East Prussian State Museum in Lüneburg .
