Erich Kneussl

Erich Kneussl (born March 30, 1884 in Lienz , † September 17, 1968 in Solbad Hall ) was an Austrian administrative lawyer and politician of the Christian Social Party (CSP).

education and profession

From 1896 to 1904 Kneussl attended high school in Meran . He then began studying law at the University of Innsbruck , where he became a member of AV Austria Innsbruck . In 1909 he received his doctorate as Dr. iur. After graduation, he was in the political administrative services in the governor's office Innsbruck and the Tyrolean district authorities operate.

From 1917 until the separation of South Tyrol from Austria, Kneussl was District Captain of Ampezzo and then until 1927 District Captain of Lienz. From 1933 to 1936 he was first deputy chairman of the Tyrolean farmers' union . From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the Federal Economic Council and the Bundestag as a representative of the employed in agriculture and forestry and was President of the Mountain Farmers Aid Fund in the Ministry of Agriculture. The establishment of the Mitteltirol fruit processing cooperative in 1937 was the result of his initiative. In the same year he was appointed councilor . After the annexation of Austria he was forced to retire in 1938. After the unsuccessful assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 , he was arrested and was interned in the Reichenau camp until October 1944 .

In 1945 he began as State Commissioner for immediate federal affairs in Tyrol . In 1946 he became regional office director for Tyrol. In 1947 he took over the branch of the Federal Chancellery in Innsbruck for South Tyrol affairs. He retired in 1950. He was chairman of the Tyrol regional group of the League for the United Nations .

Member of the National Council

Kneußl was nominated by the Tyrolean Farmers' Association in the elections for III. Legislative period from May 18, 1927 to October 1, 1930 elected to the National Council. He was re-elected in the elections for the fourth legislative period from December 2, 1930 to May 2, 1934. He belonged to the faction of the CSP.
