Erich Meier (born March 30, 1935 - † February 8, 2010 in Wallau ) was a German football player who won the German championship in 1959 as the left winger of Eintracht Frankfurt . His main job was a precision mechanic .

career

Eintracht Frankfurt

Erich Meier had his great moments in the European Cup games 1959/60 , in which he was able to score four goals in six games. This also gave rise to his nickname "Floodlight Meier". He was also allowed to play in the final on May 18 in Glasgow against Real Madrid , and in the semi-final second leg at Glasgow Rangers he scored two goals in Eintracht's 6-3 win. Meier came to Eintracht in 1956 from FV 09 Breidenbach and played his first association game in the soccer Oberliga Süd on November 11, 1956 in a 1-0 away win at Schwaben Augsburg. He and Alfred Pfaff formed the left wing of Eintracht. The regular holder of the left wing was Helmut Geiger in those years , before he was then in the shadow of Lothar Schämer . When the Riederwald-Elf won the southern championship in 1958/59 before local rivals Kickers Offenbach , Meier played 13 games in the league and scored seven goals. In the final round of the German championship, he was used in the two group games against 1. FC Köln and FK Pirmasens . With the southern runner-up in Frankfurt he came in 1960/61 in the finals against Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV and 1. FC Saarbrücken on five missions and scored five goals. With the home game on February 25, 1962 against VfB Stuttgart, he ended his activity in the Oberliga Süd at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meier moved to the 1962/63 round for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Southwest Football League . He played an excellent round with 27 appearances and 21 goals and celebrated the championship with the Betzenberg-Elf. In the first year of the Bundesliga , 1963/64, he appeared in 20 games for the Palatinate and scored eleven goals alongside the Dutch half-left Jacobus Prins . He ended his career with AGOVV Apeldoorn in 1966/67 after playing for VV Alkmaar '54 in 1965/66.
