Erich Thöni

Erich Thöni (* 1946 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian university professor for finance and sports economics.

Life

Career

Thöni attended elementary school in Seefeld in Tirol from 1952 to 1956 and the secondary school in Innsbruck / Hötting from 1956 to 1960 before he switched to the Federal Commercial Academy in Innsbruck , where he passed the Matura on June 19, 1964 .

From 1964 to 1968 he studied economics at the University of Innsbruck , where he received an AIESEC scholarship as a qualified economist . After completing his military service with the Austrian Armed Forces in 1969, he worked in travel agency management in 1970.

In 1971 he began studying social and economic sciences at the University of Innsbruck, where he graduated as "Mag.rer.soc.oec." In the same year . In 1973 he received a study and research grant from the Austrian Federal Government and the British Council and completed his studies with a dissertation “Transfers between regional authorities” with distinction and a doctorate as “Dr.rer.soc.oec.” .

This was followed by study and research stays at the London School of Economics and Political Science (1973 to 1974) and at the University of York (1976 and 1978). He received his teaching license as a university professor in 1982 with the habilitation thesis "Political Economic Theory of Federalism" .

University activity (extract)

Erich Thöni started his university career in 1972 with the conception and organization of various events, including university courses in finance. Since then, he has been making an ongoing national and international appearance in this area and has been a professor for economics at the University of Innsbruck since 1987, with a special focus on finance.

Since 1974 Thöni has been a guest lecturer at various universities in Germany , Great Britain and Northern Ireland , the USA , Switzerland , Italy , France , Denmark , Sweden , Spain , Hungary , Thailand , Indonesia , Vietnam and the People's Republic of China .

Since 1999 he has been the university commissioner for international relations at the University of Innsbruck and executive chairman of the Foreign Council and since 2000 a member of the “Internationales” forum for vice rectors and university commissioners of the Austrian Rectors' Conference and the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture .

Private

Thöni is married, lives in Seefeld in Tyrol and has a son.
