Erich Trautmann
Erich Trautmann (born June 12, 1881 in Halle (Saale) , † November 16, 1947 ) was a German lawyer . At the time of National Socialism , Trautmann was Attorney General at the Kassel Higher Regional Court .
biography
Trautmann finished his school career at a high school in his hometown with the final exam. After that, he graduated in law at the Universities of Munich and Halle and his doctorate in 1906 for Dr. jur. He joined the Prussian judicial administration in 1908 and was assessor at the Koblenz District Court and the Koblenz District Court from April 1908 . From 1914 he was a public prosecutor in Essen and from 1919 in Berlin. In 1922 he became first public prosecutor at the Berlin Court of Appeal , in April 1923 senior judicial councilor in the Prussian Ministry of Justice and in 1924 senior public prosecutor in Berlin.
In October 1932 he was appointed attorney general at the Higher Regional Court of Kassel and remained in this position until 1945. Until August 1933, he was also President of the Penal Service in Kassel. In the course of the transfer of power to the National Socialists , he joined the NSDAP in May 1933 . He was also a member of the Association of National Socialist German Lawyers (BNSDJ) . Trautmann took part in the conference of the highest jurists of the German Reich on April 23 and 24, 1941 in Berlin , in which they were informed about the "destruction of life unworthy of life" by the conference leader Franz Schlegelberger as well as Viktor Brack and Werner Heyde Euthanasia murders in the gas chambers of Operation T4 were apparently legalized.
After the US Army marched into Kassel, Trautmann was arrested at the end of the Second World War and imprisoned in the Wehlheiden prison. Shortly after his release from prison, which his wife had successfully operated, he is said to have died in hospital in 1946. Ernst Klee gives the date of death November 16, 1947.
Trautmann is said to have embodied "the type of the conservative-reactionary Prussian judicial officer".
