Erik Janson

Erik Janson (born December 5, 1967 in Neuss ) is a German composer .

Life

After completing a degree in school music and German studies , Erik Janson studied composition at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts from 1999 to 2004 with Isabel Mundry , and at times with Jörg Birkenkötter , and graduated with distinction.

He was invited to the ISCM World Music Days 2002 in Hong Kong . In 2004 he was commissioned to compose Coeur de l éternelle for a large ensemble, which premiered at the music festival “10 Years of ROC ” in the Berlin Philharmonie with soloists from the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin . In 2008 he won 3rd prize at the International Chamber Music Composition Competition of the Weimar Spring Days for contemporary music and 1st prize at the 5th International Organ Composition Competition at the Saarlouis Organ Days.

Janson composed for renowned ensembles and musicians such as For example, the Minguet Quartet, the singer and actress Salome Kammer , the harpsichordist and composer Brice Pauset and the flautist Carin Levine .

His works were also at important places in musical life such as u. a. the Konzerthaus Berlin , the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Music Academy Rheinsberg as well as in the context of festivals and concert series such as Randspiele Zepernick and Contrechamps Geneva. Erik Janson lives as a freelance composer in Düsseldorf .
