Erika Mann (born November 2, 1950 in Leipzig ) is a German politician and was a member of the European Parliament for the SPD from 1994 to 2009 . Since 2011 she has been a lobbyist for Facebook Inc. in Brussels .

Professional career

Erika Mann is a qualified pedagogue and works at the University of Hanover and is vice-president of the lobby organization Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA). Since November 2011, Erika Mann has been representing Facebook's interests in Brussels as a lobbyist .

politics

Erika Mann joined the SPD in 1972 and has been a board member of the working group of the self-employed / working group for business (AGS / AGW) in the SPD in the Hanover district since 1995 . Until 1996 she was a member of the district council of the Northeim district .

From 1994 to 2009 she was a member of the European Parliament for the Party of European Socialists (PES). There she was most recently a member of the Conference of Delegation Chairs, a member of the Committee on International Trade , a Deputy to the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and a Deputy to the Committee on Budgetary Control . She was also the coordinator of the PES group in the Committee on International Trade (INTA) and a member of the steering committee of the parliamentary assembly on the WTO . In the 2009 European elections , she missed re-election to the European Parliament.

Trivia

Erika Mann was in India on November 26, 2008 and survived the Mumbai attacks unharmed. As a member of an eight-person delegation from the Committee on International Trade , she was a guest at the Hotel Taj Mahal together with the German MEP Daniel Caspary ( CDU ) .

In 2006 she was the initiator and founding member of the German European Security Association and head of the working group on IT security.
