Erminio Valenti

Erminio Valenti (born December 24, 1564 in Trevi , † August 22, 1618 in Faenza ) was an Italian bishop and cardinal .

Life

He was born the son of Attilio Valenti and his wife Lavinia Greggi into a noble family from Trevi. A later cardinal from this family was Ludovico Valenti . Erminio Valenti earned a doctorate in law . As a lawyer in Rome, he gained access to the court of Cardinal Ippolito Aldobrandini, who later became Pope as Clement VIII .

Pope Clement VIII elevated him to the rank of cardinal in the consistory of June 9, 1604, and appointed him cardinal priest of Santa Maria in Traspontina on June 25, 1604 .

Cardinal Valenti participated in the two conclaves of 1605 for the elections of Leo XI. ( Conclave March 1605 ) and Paul V ( Conclave May 1605 ). On August 3, 1605, he was by Pope Paul V. Bishop of Faenza appointed and received on 18 September 1605 Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Luigi de Torres , Archbishop of Monreale , and Laudivio Zacchia , Bishop of Montefiascone .

He died on August 22, 1618. His grave monument is in the sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime in Faenza.
