Ernest Jean Joseph Vander Linden (born March 4, 1886 in Ixelles , died August 13, 1974 in Luxembourg City ) was a Belgian banker and the first private banker in Luxembourg . Ernest Vander Linden initially ran his banking business under the name Banking E. Vander Linden or Banque E. Vander Linden . The bank was next to Aldringer at the corner of Boulevard Royal and Avenue Monterey. He was also the general agent for two insurance companies for Luxembourg.

Life

On August 1, 1907, Ernest Vander Linden was approved as general agent for the Compagnie d'Assurances sur la vie “Le Cosmos” for Luxembourg. On April 23, 1908, he was approved as a general agent of the Compagnie de Bruxelles pour l'assurance à primes contre l'incendie for Luxembourg. In July 1919, through the merger of E. Vander Linden's banking business with Crédit Central du Brabant in Brussels , Banque Belgo-Luxembourgeoise SA was founded.

The company's headquarters were in Brussels, initially at 22, Rue d'Arlon, and later at 3, Boulevard Anspach . The Luxembourg activities were run as a branch.

On October 5, 1919, he was appointed Belgian consular agent in Luxembourg. On March 30, 1920 he was appointed Vice Consul of Belgium and on April 20, 1920 he received the exequatur .

On February 10, 1921, he bought the villa of the Saur-Koch family at No. 20 on Boulevard Royal for 195,000 francs and moved in with his family. Later the villa became the Hotel Rix .

At the end of 1923, the Luxembourg part of Banque Belgo-Luxembourgeoise SA was taken over by BGL and the Belgian part was taken over by BGL's parent company, the Belgian Société Générale de Belgique .

Ernest Vander Lindern then conducted his banking business under the name of Centrale d'achat et de vente des valeurs Luxembourgeoises non cotées en Bourse, or the buying and selling center for Luxembourg securities without a stock exchange listing .

On November 10, 1924 he was appointed consul of Belgium and received the exequatur on January 10, 1925. In this function he was until October 15, 1926. He was the first honorary consul of Czechoslovakia in Luxembourg. He received his appointment on December 6, 1923 and the exequatur took place on May 20, 1924. He was in this position until 1928.

Ernest Vander Linden was one of the first people to be admitted to trading on the newly established Luxembourg Stock Exchange on February 1, 1929 . In April 1929 he was elected to the Exchange Commission. In early 1930 he resigned from this position.

family

Ernest Vander Linden was married to Adolphine Funck (June 22, 1889 - May 13, 1982), the niece of Pierre Funck and cousin of Karl and Paul Bonatz , they had three children. It rests in the Liebfrauenfriedhof in Limpertsberg .
