Pierre Funck , also Peter Funck (born April 30, 1846 in Luxemburg (city) ; died May 8, 1932 there ) was a Luxemburgish architect.

Life

He studied architecture at the École des beaux-arts in Paris , where he also received his diploma.

He designed the Konvikt , the buildings of the Mercier champagne cellar in Luxembourg, the Letelliers Castle in Osterholz and, together with Paul Funck , designed and carried out the work on the old headquarters of the Banque internationale à Luxembourg . Together with his son Paul Funck, he has the Cercle Municipal in Luxembourg City, together with the Munich architect Max Ostenrieder , the Berg Castle , and together with his father-in-law, the architect Jean-François Eydt , the bathing establishment in the Bädergasse in the city of Luxembourg built from 1873 to 1875.

On September 10, 1880 , he was a co-founder of the Société Anonyme du «Casino de Luxembourg» .

Together with Pierre Kemp , he built Casino Luxembourg on Liebfrauenstrasse between 1880 and 1882.

Together with Pierre Kemp, he directed the work on the construction of the Pescatore Foundation . In Lorraine he built a number of buildings for various ironworks and for their directors, and in Saarbrücken and Metz the buildings for the branches of the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg. A number of houses in Luxembourg were also planned by him, such as B. the Servais-Haus on the city's Boulevard Royal or the Conrotseck on Krautmarkt .

On March 12, 1896, he and his brother Michel co-founded the Société anonyme des hauts-fourneaux de Differdange .

On June 26, 1896 he was a co-founder of the Société Anonyme «des ardoisières d'Asselborn» .

In 1899 he built the primary school in Beyren.

In 1903 he built the church and the rectory in Hüncheringen .

family

Pierre Funck rests in the family grave at the Liebfrauenfriedhof in Limpertsberg , in the family grave with his father-in-law, Jean-François Eydt, and his son, Paul Funck.

His niece, Adolphine Funck, was married to Ernest Vander Linden and his nephews were Karl and Paul Bonatz , also famous architects.

His uncle was Nicolas Funck (director of the Cologne Zoo from 1870–1886).
