Ernst Burren

Ernst Burren (* 20th November 1944 in Oberdorf SO ) is a Swiss dialect - writer .

Life

After attending the teachers' college in Solothurn , Ernst Burren worked as a primary school teacher in Bettlach . In 1970 he published his first volume of poetry: Derfür und derwider . He writes short stories, poems and plays as well as contributions for radio and television, all in the Solothurn dialect .

Ernst Burren "is considered to be the innovator of dialect literature in Switzerland". "He has long since put a place on the literary map that deserves the name Burrenwil." In 1981 Burren was awarded the Alemannic Literature Prize. In the same year he received the individual work award and in 1997 the overall work award of the Swiss Schiller Foundation . He was a member of the Olten group, which was dissolved in 2002 .

Burren lives in his birthplace Oberdorf.
