Ernst Dorn (born August 6, 1924 in Kleinphilippsreut, today Philippsreut , † February 15, 2012 ) was a German homeland researcher and senior director of studies a. D.

Life

He was the son of the teacher and local researcher Georg Dorn . In 1933 his father took a job in Erlau near Passau , where Ernst Dorn lived until his death. He studied mathematics and physics for higher education and received his doctorate in philosophy.

From 1954 to 1960 he taught at the Niedernburg High School in Passau, then at the Pocking High School and from 1960 to 1975 at the Adalbert Stifter High School in Passau. Most recently he was a seminar leader there. From 1975 until his retirement in 1985 he was senior director of studies at the technical college in Passau.

Ernst Dorn was involved in various voluntary work. Especially since his retirement he has been working as a local researcher. In 1997, he received the Freyung-Grafenau District Culture Prize for his book Heimat an der Grenz . A book about the history of the parish of Mauth was funded by the Bavarian Culture Fund.

For his services to the technical college in Passau he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. The municipality of Philippsreut made him an honorary citizen on July 16, 1999 . The market in Obernzell awarded him the letter of honor in 1988. In addition, various clubs honored him, for example the volunteer fire brigade Erlau appointed him an honorary board and the TSV Erlau an honorary member.
