Ernst Friedrich Diez

Ernst Friedrich Diez (born March 17, 1805 in Waldkirch , Breisgau , † December 1892 in Munich ) was a German theater actor and opera singer ( lyric tenor ).

Life

Diez was the son of a city official in Waldkirch, from whom he had inherited his musical sense. At the age of ten Diez sang in the church choir of his hometown. In the spring of 1825 his family sent him to Vienna , where he a. a. Student of the composer Conradin Kreutzer became. With his help, he was able to make a successful debut in Kreutzer's opera "Die Funny Advertising" the following year.

In 1826 Diez was engaged at the Municipal Theater of Pressburg and in 1828 he was brought to the Theater of Trieste . In 1829 he came under contract at the Königsstädtischer Theater in Berlin and in 1830 he was hired at the Mannheim court theater . In 1837 Diez got an engagement at the royal court theater in Munich .

In 1841 Diez married his colleague Sophie Hartmann there for the second time . In 1849 Diez completed his last performance and then moved to the royal court orchestra as a singing teacher and choirmaster . In 1868 he gave up this office and retired into private life.

Diez survived his wife by five years and died in Munich in December 1892.

The tomb of Friedrich Diez is located in the Old South Cemetery in Munich (burial ground 4 - row 8 - 57th) Location . His wife Sophie Diez is also buried in the grave.
