Ernst Henrik Ellberg

Ernst Henrik Ellberg (born December 11, 1868 in Söderhamn , † June 14, 1948 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish composer.

Ellberg studied composition with Joseph Dente and violin with J. Lindberg at the Stockholm Conservatory . From 1887 to 1905 he was violist with the Royal Orchestra and répétiteur with the ballet of the Stockholm Opera . From 1912 Ellberg was a member of the Royal Music Academy . From 1921 to 1938 he was a member of their university committee.

From 1904 to 1933 he taught composition, counterpoint and orchestration at the Stockholm Conservatory as Dente's successor. His students included Lars-Erik Larsson , Dag Wirén , Oskar Lindberg , Hilding Rosenberg , Gunnar de Frumerie , David Åhlén , Algot Haquinius (1886–1966) and others.

Ellberg made his debut as a composer in 1890 with a string quartet. In addition to other chamber music works, he composed a symphony, two ballets and an opera as well as songs for male choir.
