Ernst Krohn (? - after 1956? Was a German cameraman of the silent film era .

Live and act

Ernst Krohn was hired by Alfred Duskes as a cameraman in his Literaria studio in Berlin-Tempelhof in 1913 . He developed into a sought-after cameraman in the 1920s, not only taking photos, but also writing the screenplay for four films (The Anniversary Prize 1917, Sr. Highness Bridal Drive 1918, Mausefalle 1918, Unikum 1919) and performed two films (Mausefalle 1918, Unikum 1919) also directed.

Krohn was in front of the camera for most of Franz Hofer's (= FH) films , but also worked for directors such as Richard Oswald (= RO), Bruno Rahn (= BR), Rolf Randolf (= RR), Walter Schmidthässler (= WS ) and Jaap Speyer (= JS). In 1916 he photographed the 'Fantastic Drama' “ Dr. Satansohn ”by Edmund Edel , 1919 the first film adaptation of Felix Hollaender's novel“ Der Eid des Stephan Huller ”, which was to become the template for Ewald André Dupont's famous film“ Varieté ”in 1925 , and in 1921 the propaganda film“ The Black Plague ”, which was later banned by the censors ”. Was banned in 1923 and the 1919 photographed by him film "delusion" on the book by Gertrud David , with the Hans Werckmeister before Bolshevism wanted to warn.

After 1927 no more films with him can be proven.

The film and operetta comedian Fred Kronström was his son. He starred in some of the films his father photographed. In 1926 he assisted the director of “I would love to have kissed women” (1926). Since 1945 Kronström was a member of the ensemble of the Metropoltheater in Berlin. At DEFA and DFF he took on a few supporting roles.

Ernst Krohn should not be confused with the visual artist of the same name, who was born on October 16, 1911 in Helsinki , Finland and died in 1934. He left watercolors and oil paintings of landscapes and people.
