Life
The son of actor Carl Paul Volkmar Kühns (1832–1905) began his professional career as an actor and singer in the 1888/89 season at the Deutsches Theater in Sarajevo . In the 1910/11 season he went to the German Theater in New York and worked there as an actor and chief director of the operetta. His employment ended after a year and he returned to Europe. He spent the time before and during World War I on various stages in Austria and Germany. In 1917/18 Adolf Kühns took on additional administrative responsibility for the first time as deputy director of the Eden Operetta Theater in Aachen .
