Ernst Martin (Germanist)

Ernst Martin (* 5. May 1841 in Jena ; † 13. August 1910 in Strasbourg ) was a German specialist in German and Romance languages .

Ernst Martin was a grammar school teacher in Berlin in 1863 , completed his habilitation in 1866 as a private lecturer in Heidelberg , was appointed associate professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 1868 and full professor in 1872, moved to Prague in 1874, and to the Kaiser Wilhelm University of Strasbourg in 1877 .

Martin was the son of the well-known physician Eduard Arnold Martin (1809–1875).
