Ernst Peter von Podewils

Ernst Peter von Podewils (born March 31, 1737 on Vorwerk near Demmin ; † November 16, 1791 ibid) was a Prussian captain and district administrator .

Ernst Peter von Podewils came from the noble family of Podewils, who lived in a castle in Pomerania . His parents were Hans Heinrich von Podewils (* 1707; † 1774), heir to Vorwerk, Beggerow and Haus Demmin , and Juliane Margarethe von Lüskow (* 1709; † 1778).

Podewils had since his youth in the Prussian army served with the regiment of dragoons "of Wulffen" in the Seven Years' War fought and had last the rank of captain , because of disability when he puts his after the death of his father farewell took. In 1780 he settled on his Vorwerk estate near Demmin. He worked as a district deputy and landscape councilor for the Pomeranian landscape . In 1787 the estates elected him to the district administrator of the Demmin-Treptow district . After passing the Rigorosum in the presence of the Minister von Blumenthal , he took office on April 8, 1788.

When he sold two farms that had belonged to the Vorwerk manor, his uncle gave him the right of repurchase to which he was entitled. It is believed that he later made use of this right of repurchase and then completely incorporated the two farms into the Vorwerk through the then common practice of farming .

Podewils was married to Eva Helene Sophie, née von Podewils, from the Sanzkow family (* 1747; † 1812), daughter of Peter von Podewils (* 1709; † 1778) and Magdalene Luise von Kneitlingen († 1758). The marriage resulted in three daughters and four sons. Including the Prussian officers Peter Heinrich von Podewils (* 1780; † 1838) and Karl August Friedrich Dietrich von Podewils (* 1790; ⚔ 1813 at Großgörschen ).
