Ernst Philipp von Wagenfeld (* 1741 in Danzig ; † January 11, 1814 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the cuirassier regiment "Graf von Truchseß" .

Life

Ernst Philipp was the son of Johann Adolf von Wagenfeld, court judge and Prussian resident in Danzig and Anna Euphrosina Freislich.

Military career

Wagenfeld served from 1761 in the Prussian Army as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Kanitz" . With the regiment he took part in the battles near Gostyń , Koblin, Friedland, Regenwalde, Wahlsatt and Leutmannsdorf and the siege of Schweidnitz during the campaign in 1761/63 . In 1766 he was promoted to second lieutenant, in 1775 to premier lieutenant and during the War of the Bavarian Succession on March 10, 1779, finally to staff captain . In 1785 Wagenfeld was appointed squadron chief. As a colonel (since May 27, 1792) he took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 and took part in the siege of Warsaw and the battles near Powonsk and Wawrzize.

On October 6, 1797 Wagenfeld was commander of the "von Busch" dragoon regiment . Almost three years later he was promoted to major general and on June 11, 1800 appointed Friedrich Wilhelm III. Wagenfeld as chief of the cuirassier regiment "Graf von Truchseß". He was also awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite on June 25, 1802 for his long service.

Due to a serious illness, he was given three months' leave at the end of May 1803. However, as his health did not improve, Wagenfeld was diminished on December 15, 1806 . In February 1809 the king awarded him an annual pension of 800 thalers , of which only half could be paid initially.

family

Wagenfeld married in 1782 Wilhelmine Countess von Schlieben (born June 4, 1753, † March 14, 1814 in Königsberg) from the Birckenfeld house, widowed by von der Groeben. From the marriage of Moritz Ernst Karl (* 1792, † March 16, 1840) showed that in the Battle of Lützen was severely wounded as a second lieutenant in the East Prussian Cuirassier and later as a captain retired.
