Ernst Resch (born December 31, 1808 in Dresden , † September 26, 1864 in Breslau ) was a German Biedermeier painter .

Resch studied at the Dresden Academy with Moritz Retzsch and came to Breslau in 1838. He was best known as a portrait and landscape painter. In 1860 he was appointed professor in Breslau and was an active member of the Silesian Society of Friends of the Arts .

Resch was buried in the (now defunct) Great Cemetery in Breslau. Works by Resch can be found in the National Museum Warsaw , the Silesian Museum in Görlitz and the Berlin National Gallery . Some of his works were in the estate of Adalbert Wölfl , who was a pupil of his, including portrait drawings, landscape sketches and drafts of compositions. Other students of Resch were the history painter Albrecht Bräuer, who studied in his studio, and the portrait and still life painter Emil Brehmer. Another of his students was the landscape painter Adolf Dressler (1833–1881). Resch was friends with the poet August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben , whom he had met in Breslau in 1838 and of whom he made a portrait.
