Ernst Steiger-Züst

Ernst Steiger-Züst (born April 22, 1865 in Herisau ; † December 4, 1932 in Lindau (Bodensee) , Bavaria ; resident in Uetikon am See ) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Ernst Steiger-Züst was a son of Jakob Steiger and a brother of Jakob Steiger and Lily Zellweger-Steiger . He married Marie Züst, daughter of Konrad Züst, factory owner , high court and colonel . He was a brother-in-law of Anna Theodora Eugster-Züst , Howard Eugster and Otto Zellweger . He attended the school of the Moravian Brethren in Königsfeld , Württemberg . He completed an apprenticeship in his father's embroidery export company . He worked in the branches in Wolgast ( Pomerania ), London and Paris . After the bankruptcy in 1889, he built his own company for the export of rideaux and satin stitch embroidery . From 1894 to 1907 he was a salesman in London. From 1911 to 1815 he was the British Vice Consul in St. Gallen . From 1916 to 1824 he was President of the St. Gallen Industrial Association. From 1918 to 1821 he was president of the Eastern Switzerland Economic Association. From 1922 to 1832 he was a member of the Swiss Swiss Chamber of Commerce . He was President of the Eastern Switzerland Chain Stitch Embroidery Association and the Eastern Switzerland Embroidery Fund . He sat on the board of directors of the St. Gallen embroidery trust cooperative. He was an advocate of the embroidery industry in England and promoter of new industries in Eastern Switzerland.
