Ernst Würdinger

Ernst Würdinger (born February 20, 1952 in Passau ) is an Austrian conductor , composer and university professor .

Life

After completing school at  Wilhering  Abbey High School , where he was taught music by  Balduin Sulzer , Würdinger studied composition , conducting and music education at the Vienna University of Music with Erich Urbanner and Othmar Suitner . From 1978 to 1985 he was Kapellmeister at the Frankfurt Opera under Michael Gielen . Between 1985 and 1991 he was a lecturer for piano, piano internship, accompaniment , harmony and ear training , and since 1991 he has been a full professor for composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

From 1991 to 1999 Würdinger was the artistic director of the Mödlinger Singakademie . Since 1996 he has been leading the Klosterneuburg Chorus .

Würdinger works as a freelance composer , conductor and pianist .
