Erwin Fuchsbichler (born March 27, 1952 in Kapfenberg ) is a former Austrian football player . The goalie took part in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

Career

Erwin Fuchsbichler was (like his older brother Gerald) goalkeeper at SV Kapfenberg (who in the 1966/67 season had to be relegated from the National League , the top division at the time, to the Middle Regional League) - and moved to Gerald in the summer of 1970, three years , also to Rapid Vienna, where he was at most on the bench (he had competition from the Danish goalkeeper Bent Martin , but the foreigner limit also played a role), while Gerald Fuchsbichler was in goal.

On March 28, 1971 he made his national league debut in a home 1-0 win over WSG Wattens , which was further missions - in the next two rounds with the away match at the Wiener Sport-Club in Dornbach with a 5-3 win (April 10) and the home match against SC SC Bregenz with a 4: followed 0 victory of the Rapid players, and he had to in the next championship game (April 25) at Innsbruck Tracker SV Austria Salzburg at the score of 3: 0 for Salzburg (final score 3: 1) replace his ailing brother in the 57th minute. From the 24th round (May 1st), Bent Martin came back to the train as the "one-shot goalie".

During the summer transfer period in 1971, Gerald Fuchsbichler moved to the Wiener Sport-Club, Rapid signed Adolf Antrich , who was last at Salzburg , and so Erwin Fuchsbichler was again only “number 2” in terms of jersey number 1. It lasted up to 21st round of the 1971/72 season, before he was used on April 15, 1972 at home 2: 1 over Linzer ASK , also in the 26th round (25 May) he was at home 1: 2 against the later champions S SW Innsbruck in goal - and again it was in the two final rounds.

In the following season Erwin Fuchsbichler was initially the actual number 1, also had his first matches in the European Cup, when in the cup winners competition in the first round PAOK Saloniki with a home 0-0 and away 2-2 (13th / September 27, 1972) could be eliminated, where he was even described as the "Hero of Saloniki", but he was for disciplinary reasons from the 10th round (October 21; 1: 1 at SC Eisenstadt ) by Ernst Hlozek on the Substitute bench ordered and also replaced by Antrich in the first leg of the 2nd European Cup on October 25 in Vienna against Rapid Bucharest (1: 1).

Fuchsbichler was immediately reinstated in the 11th round (October 28; 2-1 home defeat against LASK), then only again in the 16th round (March 17th in the home 5-2 against SK Austria Klagenfurt ) . In the rest of the season there were alternating nominations from him and Antrich.

In the summer of 1973 Fuchsbichler left Rapidler and moved completely to the west of Austria to FC Vorarlberg , who had risen as FC Rätia Bludenz champion of the Regionalliga West and entered a syndicate with Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz. He played there almost continuously until the 23rd round on March 30, 1974 (1: 3 at SpG WSG Radenthein - Villacher SV ); There were some missions by ex-Eisenstadt goalkeeper Johann Schorn (born April 7, 1940), who had been under contract with SW Bregenz since the summer of 1970, who played from the 24th round (April 6) until the end of the season (with Klaus Tutschek as Replacement was available).

During the transfer period in 1974, he switched to the sensational previous year’s champion VÖEST Linz, where Helmut Senekowitsch was the trainer: Erwin was used in the first two championship rounds, but was replaced by Herbert Rettensteiner from the third round before he moved into the 6th round (10th round) September at home 3: 1 over Austria Wien / WAC) was back in goal. He then also played in the European Champions Cup, but where FC Barcelona were too strong an opponent for Linz. A 0-0 home (September 18) was followed by a 0: 5 (October 2) at Camp Nou. In the championship he was replaced by Kurt Kaiserseder in the 23rd minute in a 1-1 draw at Eisenstadt on November 23 , but was back in goal a week later - it wasn't until March 1, 1975 (20th round) that the 1: 1 at Austria Salzburg again Rettensteiner between the posts - and he stayed there up to and including the 26th round. After that (April 26th, home 0: 1 against Innsbruck) Fuchsbichler was set up again. In round 34 and in the final round it was Rettensteiner's turn again, in between on June 13th when Admira-Wacker went 0-0 in Vienna's Südstadt, it was Fuchsbichler.

He had his team premiere apparently on April 28, 1976 during the match against Sweden (1: 0) held as part of the sports press festival ; however Friedl Koncilia was the one-shot goalie, Fuchsbichler was on the bench. He played on June 12th in a match of the second set of the national teams of Austria against Hungary (1: 1) and also on October 26th, 1977 0-0 in the European Championship qualification of the amateurs against Greece. In the senior national team he came in Salzburg-Lehen on May 12, 1978 in a test match against Hertha BSC (2-0) from the break and on May 22 in Linz in another test (this time Eintracht Frankfurt was the opponent; it was again a 2-0) from the 22nd minute for Koncilia to use. Fuchsbichler was the second goalie during the World Championships in Argentina, but he was not used. His first "real" international match (and this from the start) he played under the new team boss Karl Stotz on August 30, 1978 in a 2-0 win against Norway in Oslo in the first match of the European Championship qualification for 1980, on September 20 in Vienna a 3-2 win against Scotland followed by another win in this qualification. But then Koncilia was again number one, Herbert Feurer had his premiere in a friendly game on October 8, 1980 in a 3-1 in Vienna against Hungary .
