Glonnegger first worked as a trained bookseller in the "Rieck'sche Buchhandlung" in Aulendorf before he was drafted into military service in 1943. After the war he was taken prisoner by the Americans for two years. In 1949 Glonnegger came to Ravensburger Verlag and stayed there for 36 years until he left in 1985. Between 1959 and 1969 he built up an archive there, in which the history of board games was discussed for the first time. In the early 1960s he took over the management of the entire program of the game publisher. During this time, the classics Memory (1959), Malefiz (1960), as well as the Ravensburger Hobby (from 1961) and paperbacks (from 1962) were created under his direction . The appearance of the company's first puzzles also fell under his initiative in 1964.

Glonnegger recognized the trend towards an early internationalization of the game market and came into contact with numerous authors whose ideas he implemented with them, such as Alex Randolph and Max Kobbert . Later he successfully launched the games Börsenspiel , Erstes Rechnen , Deutschlandreise , Handel und Wandel and Emil und die Detektiven, which appeared in large editions . He also acted as publisher for the casino series games, which are coveted by collectors . The first award of the game of the year game award for rabbits and hedgehogs went to the publishing house in Ravensburg in 1979, also because of his commitment.

His first published in 1988 when Hugendubel publishing cultural history textbook The game book is considered a standard work.
