Erwin Pendl
Erwin Pendl (born October 18, 1875 in Vienna ; † August 4, 1945 there ) was an Austrian vedute and architecture painter , illustrator and writer .
life and work
He was the son of the sculptor Emanuel Pendl and studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, among others with the court theater painter Hermann Burghart . Pendl worked in Viennese architecture studios such as Alexander Wielemans von Monteforte and in the castle construction studio. In 1897/98 Pendl built a plastic model of Vienna's inner city , which is now in the Wien Museum . On behalf of the municipality of Vienna, Pendl created numerous oversized views of the city for the world exhibitions in 1898 and 1900 (Paris) . His main works, executed in watercolor , include the monumental depiction of Vienna's inner city (1898) and the bird's eye view of Vienna, created with Hugo Darnaut . In 1906 he was awarded a gold medal at an exhibition in Milan .
