Erwin Schöpf

Erwin Johannes Schöpf (born October 18, 1936 in Darmstadt ; † June 17, 2018 ) was a German physician .

Erwin Schöpf, son of the chemist Clemens Schöpf , studied medicine in Freiburg and Vienna . He was a specialist in skin diseases and an allergist. From 1970 he was professor, later full professor for dermatology and venereology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and since 1978, in succession to Karl Wilhelm Kalkoff, head of the University Dermatology Clinic Freiburg im Breisgau . At times he was Pro-Rector of the University of Freiburg.

He was president and honorary member of the German Dermatological Society and since 1996 a member of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina . In 2014, Schöpf was the first recipient of the Braun Falco Medal .
