Erwin Staudt (* 25. February 1948 in Leonberg as Erwin Kramer ) is a German manager and was from 2003 to 2011 full-time president of VfB Stuttgart .

Youth and Studies

Staudt was born on February 25, 1948 as the son of the master tailor Hermann Staudt from the Leonberg district of Eltingen and Hedwig Krämer, born in Titisee . Ringwald, born. Because his mother's first husband, who fell in World War II, had not yet been officially declared dead, Erwin Staudt carried his maiden name Erwin Krämer until his parents married in October 1948. As a direct result of a vaccination against diphtheria and scarlet fever , Staudt suffered vaccination damage in the form of meningitis at the age of five , which caused paralysison the right side of his body. His right arm was permanently paralyzed. After his ninth birthday, Erwin Staudt attended a VfB Stuttgart game in the Neckar Stadium for the first time . He played as a football player for TSV Eltingen , where Staudt went through all youth teams from the E-youth. Also because he was unable to continue his father's tailoring business because of his paralysis, Staudt attended the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Leonberg . There he became a sports advisor and organized soccer matches against student teams from Stuttgart.

After graduating from high school at the University of Stuttgart, Staudt enrolled in the economics course in the 1967 winter semester . After he had passed the preliminary diploma examination after four semesters in Stuttgart , Staudt moved to the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . He passed his graduate degree in economics there in April 1973.

Work for IBM

Staudt joined IBM Germany in 1973 . In 1982 he took on his first managerial role in Stuttgart, where he was the sales manager responsible for customers in Baden-Württemberg in the areas of financial administration, social security and energy supply. He later held the positions of head of marketing projects in the head office and assistant to the director of marketing and services.

In 1986 Staudt became head of the Berlin branch of IBM , in 1989 he took over the management of the communication / public relations department in the headquarters of IBM Germany as a general representative. From July 1992 he was responsible for the entire German PC business. In 1994 Staudt changed to the post of sales manager and was appointed managing director of IBM Deutschland Informationssysteme GmbH.

In October 1994 Staudt went to the European headquarters of IBM in Paris as General Manager for Competitive Marketing, then as Vice President Marketing. From July 1995 to October 1998 he was responsible for the "Basic Industry" and "Petroleum" business areas worldwide. From November 1, 1998 to January 14, 2003, Erwin Staudt was Chairman of the Management Board of IBM Germany.

Work for VfB Stuttgart

On June 26, 2003, the members of VfB Stuttgart elected Erwin Staudt as president of the association. Staudt has been a fan of VfB since childhood and has been a member of the club for years. Staudt has been the full-time president of VfB Stuttgart since September 22, 2003. At the end of his first term of office, VfB became German champions in 2007. At the general meeting on July 23, 2007, Erwin Staudt was confirmed as President of VfB Stuttgart for another four years. During his second term in office, through talks with Mercedes-Benz and the city of Stuttgart, he converted the Mercedes-Benz Arena into a pure football arena - a project that his predecessors had failed. At the general meeting in summer 2011, he no longer stood for election as president.

On August 4, 2011 Staudt was appointed honorary president of VfB Stuttgart.

Staudt is known as a staunch business liberal . He is honorary president of the D21 initiative , of which he was first president from 1999 to 2004. Staudt is also an ambassador for the New Social Market Economy initiative . He is a member of the supervisory board of USU Software AG, Möglingen and PROFI Engineering Systems AG , Darmstadt. He is a member of the advisory board at Deutsche Bank AG , Stuttgart, Kreissparkasse Böblingen, Böblingen, Interstuhl Büromöbel GmbH & Co. KG, Tieringen, Wolff & Müller GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart. Staudt is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, Cologne, the Presidium of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN eV), Berlin, and FOM Hochschule, Stuttgart.

The former left winger and chairman of TSV Eltingen has been involved in amateur football on a voluntary basis for many years. In 2004, 2009 and 2010 the SPD Baden-Württemberg sent him to the Federal Assembly . He is an active member of the SPD and was chairman of the party's parliamentary group in the Leonberg municipal council .

Erwin Staudt is a volunteer member of the Board of Trustees of the German Childhood Cancer Care Foundation - Foundation for the Chronically Ill Child in Tannheim near Villingen-Schwenningen, which supports seriously ill children and their families.

In 2010 Erwin Staudt took over the patronage of the Christopher Street Day in Stuttgart and thus also gave an impetus against homophobia in football.

Staudt is married, has three children and lives in the Silberberg district of Leonberg .
