The Roman Catholic Diocese of Narbonne was in southern France located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in France , based in Narbonne .

history

Narbonne had been a bishopric since the 3rd century ; St. Paul of Narbonne is named as the first bishop . Pope Leo the Great raised the diocese to a metropolitan diocese in 455 ; the first archbishop was Hermes of Narbonne. On November 29, 1801, the Archbishopric was abolished with the Concordat of 1801 and incorporated into the Diocese of Carcassonne ; the last archbishop at the time was Arthur Richard Dillon.
