The Erzgebirgische Philharmonie Aue is also the orchestra of the Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theater Annaberg .

history

The Erzgebirgisches Sinfonieorchester Aue has been an integral part of the Saxon cultural landscape for over 100 years. Founded in 1888 as the “Städtisches Musikcorps” under the direction of Anton Zien, the orchestra developed into the Erzgebirge Symphony Orchestra Aue. Since 1990 there has been an increasing close cooperation with the orchestra of the Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theater Annaberg in order to be able to perform demanding symphonies of larger dimensions. In June 1997 the two orchestras were merged and the Erzgebirgische Theater- und Orchester GmbH was founded. In addition to extensive concert activities, the orchestra therefore also performs as a theater orchestra all music theater performances at the Eduard von Winterstein Theater in Annaberg-Buchholz . In addition, the spectrum of the orchestra ranges from symphony concerts, serenades, opera, operetta and choir concerts to chamber music and school concerts. In addition, there is participation in church concerts and diverse collaborations with music schools and music colleges.

Naoshi Takahashi has been acting chief conductor since 2004 and general music director since 2006. Also in 2006 the orchestra was renamed "Philharmonie" in consideration of its artistic achievement. At the same time, a historical tradition was tied in with it, as an Erzgebirge Philharmonic was announced on the programs as early as 1948 when the Annaberg and Aue municipal orchestras joined forces for symphony concerts.
