The Earth has gone through the environmental destruction of the people turned into a desert landscape. The ozone layer is destroyed and most living things are extinct. All other species that have survived need to protect themselves from the sun . In this hostile environment, the scientist Hank Symes is researching with artificial life forms that accelerate the growth of plants and thus save the earth. When one day an experiment fails, Hank mutates into a "swarm of particles".
